The Congo
Appeal is a registered Australian charity established in 2006 to
raise awareness of the desperate situation of the people of the
Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in particular, women and
children.
Civil war
has ravaged the country since 1998, claiming an estimated 3.3 million
lives, either as a direct result of fighting or due to malnutrition
and disease. More than 2.25 million people have been driven from
their homes.
The appeal
aims to improve the social and economic wellbeing for women and
children through greater educational opportunities, skill development
and job creation in community-based projects supported by Caritas
and churches in the DRC.
With your
support, we can make a difference and build a sustainable future.
All the donated
goods are sent to Caritas Congo for distribution and management.
